Frequently Asked Questions

IS IT NECESSARY FOR YOU TO MEET MY DOG BEFORE THEIR FIRST VISIT?

Yes, an initial meet and greet is required prior to your dog’s first visit. We want to make sure it is a good mutual fit. This allows us the opportunity to observe your dog and become acquainted with them, while also allowing your pup to get familiar with us and the setting, ideally minimizing any feelings of uncertainty it may have while being somewhere new.

WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR MY DOG'S STAY?

First and foremost, we require a copy of your dog’s current vaccinations. These can be brought on their first visit or your vet can e-mail them to us in advance at [email protected]. We have plenty of bowls, beds and toys to occupy your pup and make them comfortable during their stay, however, many people do tend to bring their own bedding and toys, as these are things your pup is familiar with while staying with us. Food is very specific for each dog, therefore, we ask that you bring enough to last throughout your dog’s visit. This also pertains to medications, if applicable. Meals will be provided on the schedule that your dog is used to.

HOW WILL MY DOG SPEND THE DAY AT WELCOTT FARM?

We recognize that each dog is unique and has their own needs. We take our time allowing your dog to get familiar with us, the facility, and other guests. From there, with our supervision, the dogs play and socialize throughout the day in our indoor and outdoor play spaces in a secured, off-leash environment. We follow each dog’s lead, as activity levels vary. Some dogs may be used to playing all day while others may require frequent rests during the day. Your dog calls the shots and we obey their command.

HOW IS IT DETERMINED WHO MY DOG WILL PLAY WITH?

We have many regular guests who come to Welcott Farm, so we already have a strong familiarity with them. When a new dog arrives, they are given the time required to get comfortable with the us and the new setting. Once this is established, your dog will be gradually introduced to those dogs which we feel will be a good pairing for play groups. When your dog appears ready, they will join their established group to play throughout the day for the duration of their stay.

ARE DOGS EVER LEFT ALONE?

Welcott Farm is on the premises of our home. While we spend the majority of the day playing with the dogs, there are occasions that require us to be in our home while the dogs are resting. During these instances, the dogs are secured in their pens and can be monitored through our security camera.
